The DCC entered 26 competitors, more than ever before for this years Liffey Descent race in Dublin. We had some great results too , in womens GP
Rachel Bourne came 3rd followed by Catriona Woods 7th and Roisin Kerr 9th. A 3rd place too for
Edward Broekaart in the Masters GP with Cathal Herron 9th and Danny Mulhern who turned in a great time of 3hrs 26mins not bad for his first Liffey. The nonchalent Andrew Harron came in 7th in the Junior GP class and Patrick Woods came in 8th in the Senior mens GP.
It seems to most of us that they only paddle once a year but Michael Roulston and Tommy Marron managed their first dry run of the Liffey this year and came home 14th in the Touring Canadian pairs.
The tightest race of all was between the Touring Kayak Doubles of Ken Moore and Brian Murray versus Andy Harron and Davey Leonard. Capsizing at Palmerstown Dave and Andy watched as Ken and Brian come over the weir looking to take the lead. Palmerstown Weir had its own ideas though, turning them sideways and eventually tipping them both out allowing Andy and Davey to keep the lead finishing 8th ahead of Brian and Ken in 11th place.
